The first thing any person did (or would do) when they learned of the pancake mix recall was panic and wonder if they've consumed the product in the last 24?, 48? hours? But, who is to blame for the product being on the shelves?
When products are recalled, it is usually due to a defect in the product or potentially harmful substances in it that should not be ingested by the consumer. But with so many quality check points in place that control these things, how is it that these small foxes slip by quality control?
Very often, industries move products quickly in an effort to meet production schedules and get their product to market to start turning a profit for them. The bottom line is important, but at what expense? If a manufacturer will sacrifice quality in order to meet a production schedule, I have to wonder if I really want this product or not. Is it really worth it?
I decided I’d still make those homemade pancakes for my family every Saturday. I’m simply going to change brands that I use to make my pancakes. Preferably one without a recall or quality issue. Perhaps I’ll just look in my cupboards and just use good old-fashioned flour, eggs and milk, the way my grandmother used to do.
Heck, that even used to work for Aunt Jemima too.
