3 Things You Can Do Today That Will Position You For Successful Leadership

Being a successful and productive leader is the goal of people who are on a focused track to making things happen. Effective leadership is a mixture of several qualities and characteristics that you need in order to see results. Some of these qualities include charisma, effective communication, tact and sensitivity. While it may seem contradictory, leadership is a never-ending process in finding quality results.

While some leaders make it look effortless, good leadership does not just "happen." You have to work at it continuously, tweaking and shifitng thoughts and ideas as well as communicating effectively to convey your message. Many leaders fail before they win because they stop short of seeing a process through to the next step. You can effectively lead without stopping short or watching your efforts die. How?

Here are three strategies that you can institute today that will position you for successful leadership in your organization:

1. Become a Team Player. Show the people that you lead how you don't mind doing their jobs. People respond favorably when they see a leader who can and is willing to step in and do the work like the rest of them - - a team player. Leaders are rarely effective when they're unable to say that they "know" how the team feels.

2. Empower the Team. Give them the tools and resources they need to do their jobs effectively. Favorable results only come from actions that are linked to having what you need, when you need it. Provide them with the tools they need to do their job the best way possible. When the team has what it needs, it will give you what you want.

3. Give Constructive Criticism. This is part of the mentoring process. People are so used to hearing what they've done wrong. Change things up a bit and offer encoragement on what they've done right. Give feedback on why their methods have worked and why they're successful at what they do. Leaders do it all of the time to boost morale and see immediate results. You can too.

These three methods are only to show you that you can take just a little information, implement it and see results. Try them and let me know how it turns out for you.
