I was very surprised to see it today. Really, I was. I was in a restaurant having lunch with a friend, and in walks a very well-known, well-respected business leader in our community. He was obviously there for lunch, as he had rattling keys in his hand a very hurried look. The strange thing is that I've never seen this man out of his element, his place of comfort, so to speak. Also, just to be fair, he did look a little nervous as well. Could it be perhaps that he was with the common people and didn't know quite what to do? Although I didn’t want to embarrass him any further, I did nod my head slightly to speak to him but to also keep from drawing a crowd. Yes, he's just that popular. Should leaders be amongst the regular, every-day people? Or, should they stay in their places and allow us to come to them, if and when we need them?
Are you the type of leader that ha a "closed-door" policy? Or are you open-minded and allow employees to speak with you anytime?
