On last week I made a post discussing whether or not women make effective leaders, if not the best leaders. While this issue is debatable and will probably be for times to come, the times we live in reflect leaders of the female persuasion who are making differences in our business, political and educational systems.
One woman leader that caught my eye was Shirley Tilghman, Princeton's president who was dubbed one of "America's Best Leaders." There were many other honorees chosen for this honor, many of whom have made notable accomplishments and impacts on our community.
"The honorees were selected by a committee of academic, government, business and nonprofit leaders convened by the Center for Public Leadership at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, which collaborated on the project with U.S. News. The panel accepted nominations from a wide range of sources and compiled research on each one."
Mrs. Tilghman has made enormous contributions to our educational community and will heralded as a great leader for years to come. Is it because she's a female or just because she's just a great leader?
